We have lived in the Comox Valley for the past 40 years. We came here because we wanted a smaller community in which to raise our children and because we love the outdoors. In the Spring, Summer and Fall we enjoy hiking, cycling and kayaking and in the winter we love to ski and snowshoe. All of these activities are easily accessible. We also have a wonderful community of friends who are always happy to welcome our Home Exchange guests.
Monique is a retired French Immersion teacher and Keith is a retired Claims Adjudicator. For the past twelve years we have travelled extensively throughput the world and we have done 28 home e changes in many different countries. All have been extremely positive experiences and we have made many new friends as a result of the exchanges.
Our children are grown and we have seven grandchildren who we love to visit in Belgium and Norway.
We look forward to doing more travelling and meeting new people.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
HOMELINKING SINCE 2003
We have a charming character home on 3/4 acre, lots of perennials, veggie garden and fruit trees. From our living room we have ocean and mountain views and we are within walking distance of downtown Courtenay which has a variety of excellent restaurants, boutique shopping, art galleries and much more.
We live in the beautifully scenic Comox Valley located on the east coast of Vancouver Island. The Valley comprises three communities...The city of Courtenay, the town of Comox and the village of Cumberland...all with easy access to the mountains, ocean, rivers and lakes. Beaches, kayaking, hiking, cycling, skiing and golf we have it all at our back door. The Comox Valley is also well known for its artsy community. The Filberg Festival, the first week of August has many Canadian artists in attendance as well as fabulous musicians. The Comox Valley Music Fest takes place mid July and attracts musicians from all over the world.
Courtenay, our city, is a one hour drive north of Nanaimo where you can take the ferry to Vancouver. We are located 200 kms north of our capital city, Victoria. We are a short 30 minute drive to Mount Washington Resort, located in in Strathcona Park. A variety of activities are available there in all seasons. Downhill and cross-country skiing from December through April, hiking and mountain biking from April to November.
Just 12 Kms south of Courtenay is the beautiful Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa where one can attend yoga classes, receive spa treatments and then enjoy a wonderful meal in the Oceans 7 Restaurant.
25 Kms south of Courtenay is the Buckley Bay Ferry terminal accessing Hornby and Denman Islands...two islands filled with artists' studios, galleries, beautiful beaches and exceptional hiking and mountain bike trails.
Excellent salmon fishing and whale watching opportunities are located in Campbell River, 45 Kms north of Courtenay. Access to Quadra and Cortes Islands and Desolation Sound is quick and easy from Campbell River.
