We are a fun-loving family of 4; our son is 6 and our daughter is 3. We love to enjoy the outdoors, and usually spend our weekends out at various local parks with the kids. Now that the kids are a bit older, we are looking to travel and explore the world, exposing the kids to as many new cultures and places as we can. In the summer of 2018, we are looking forward to planning a special holiday and returning to Scotland where Sarah went to school for a time. After that, we are excited to start travelling to wherever life leads us!

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our home is an end-unit townhouse in a small, friendly townhouse complex located in the beautiful city of Burlington. We are half way between Toronto and Niagara Falls; both cities are about a 40-minute drive from Burlington. Our home has three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a fully finished basement that is currently set up as a play room for the kids with a futon for additional sleeping space. The master bedroom has a queen bed and a 5-piece ensuite that includes a large soaker tub. There is also another full bathroom upstairs with tub and shower. The second bedroom has a twin-sized loft bed and the third bedroom also has a twin bed. The downstairs level has a half bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and living room. The dining table currently seats 4, but can easily be expanded to seat 6. We have a fully fenced backyard with a large deck and plenty of seating. There are children’s toys and a sandbox as well, for your little ones to play with, while you sit and enjoy your morning coffee. In the garage there are lots of outdoor toys for the children to use, including scooters, wagons, bikes, and two adult bikes. There is a little park within our townhouse complex, and we have a large park with a soccer field and playscape for the kids just across the street.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our home is located in the northern end of Burlington, in a quiet residential area called Millcroft. There are lots of stores and amenities within a 10-minute walk of our home, including grocery stores, library, recreation centre, and golf course. The downtown core with its many activities and sites to see is also just a 10-minute drive away. Burlington is a fantastic city to visit if you are wanting to explore southern Ontario; it has been rated the best city of its size to live in Canada for 5 years running! We are conveniently located half way between the bustling city of Toronto and spectacular Niagara Falls. There are also many things to do right here in Burlington, including Spencer Smith park which is located right on the shores of Lake Ontario, Royal Botanical Gardens, and Bronte Creek Provincial Park which offers so many activities and programs to enjoy. We will also provide you with our Halton Conservation Parks pass, which will allow you access to 5 beautiful conservation areas within a 10- to 15-minute drive of our home. These parks have gorgeous hiking trails, spectacular views, swimming, fishing, and fun programs to participate in. You can check out the various parks here: http://www.conservationhalton.ca/parks. You may also wish to visit the Burlington Tourism website for local events and attractions going on: http://www.tourismburlington.com/
