The city centre of Bruges itself is the main attraction. There are a lot of places of interest in this medieval city. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and many of it's buildings are notable (the Belfy, the Church of Our Lady, The Béguinage, The Basilica of the Holy Blood, The modern Concertgebouw ('concert building'), Saint Salvator's Cathedral, The Groeningemuseum...).

The Groeningemuseum has an extensive collection of medieval and early modern art, including a notable collection of Flemish Primitives. Various masters, including Hans Memling and Jan van Eyck, lived and worked in Bruges. In the Church of Our Lady, The sculpture Madonna and Child, which can be seen in the transept, is believed to be Michelangelo's only sculpture to have left Italy within his lifetime.
