Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Our home is bright, comfortable, compact, functional and aesthetic. The main rooms have large glass doors opening to our lovely garden. We are close to the charming town of Fremantle, a short walk to the Swan River, and a stroll to many local restaurants, cafes, a small shopping centre and public transport.

The nearby river is perfect for water sports, picnics, and beautiful walks. There is even some public exercise equipment along the river edge, and it's a favourite place for people who like sailing, a run or a bike ride. There are stylish restaurants, relaxed cafes and a bar in easy walking distance right on the river front. Just walk over the hill from the house. If you prefer the ocean, a number of beautiful sandy beaches are only a 10 minute drive away.

The capital city, Perth is about half an hour away by car, train or bus... and there is plenty more beyond the city. The forests and the outback are spectacular.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our neighborhood is peaceful, civilised and beautiful, with a mix of lovely limestone federation houses, well-loved and renovated timber cottages and smart, modern dwellings. When you walk to the beautiful Swan River via a nearby hilltop park you can admire a spectacular view toward Fremantle and along the river. There you can enjoy excellent public space, cafes and restaurants, sculptures, a boat ramp and play equipment for children. You can also walk to the local shopping centre which includes a small supermarket, newsagent, pharmacy, medical services, hairdresser, Italian delicatessen, jeweller, florist,and gym, as well as a Malaysian restaurant, and take-away pizza and Chinese food outlets. Much more can be found in nearby Fremantle. Public transport to Fremantle and Perth is just a three minute walk from the house.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

All your day-to-day needs are in East Fremantle. Enjoy the river, local restaurants and parks. East Fremantle's George Street is a delightful mix of restaurants, boutiques, small business and a park. We recommend Limone's restaurant.
Take the short trip to Fremantle for many more attractions: the weekends markets, cinema, maritime museums, historic buildings, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Choose Italian, Indian, Thai, seafood, or try the Little Creatures Brewery near the picturesque fishing boat harbour, where the atmosphere and the food are great.
Western Australia is famous for its beaches whose white sands are rarely crowded - swim, surf or dive. At the beach or river, fish, windsurf, kite surf kayack or sail.
Half an hour away in Perth, there's more to see and do. It's easy to arrange tours to nearby locations. Perhaps take a boat trip up river to the wineries, or to drive yourself to the country for pretty towns, the Australian bush and more.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

We assume there is mutual respect for each other's home. Our first preference is to exchange with adults because our house is not set up for children. We are willing to accommodate families with children who are old enough to be responsible and careful.
We are fond of our small garden and while it is irrigated during summer, some attention may be needed to make sure everything is getting enough water. You are welcome to pick herbs, fruit and vegetables in season.
Our neighbours are friendly, so please say hello.
