• A pleasant 2 weeks in Schwabach

  Our stay began with a very warm welcome from Renate and Karl at the train station. We were then treated to some generous Bavarian hospitality before our hosts left for their holiday. We took full advantage of Schwabach’s convenient location and our German rail pass to visit many of the surrounding towns as well as several trips into Nuremberg. There are many walking and cycling routes in the area that we enjoyed as well. And after each outing it was great to come “home” to Renate and Karl’s well appointed house with everything one would need for a home stay. We look forward to welcoming Renate and Karl to our home when they travel to Canada next summer for the second half of this home exchange.

• Superb place for exploring historic Nürnberg

  We had 2 lovely weeks in Renates and Klaus' comfortable home in Schwabach. The place is perfect for exploring Nürnberg and surrounding area. We were there in the first half of april - the right time to experience spring time with tulips and lilies in full blossom and storks in the beautiful villages in the area. Communicating with Renate and Klaus was easy, and they gave us a great tip: Buy a "Deutschland Ticket" and travel all over Germany with train, bus and tram. A tip we had great use of. Renates and Klaus' home is situated in a quiet part of Schwabach with real nice neighbors and with an easy walk to downtown and the railway station.

  Renate & Klaus were wonderful exchange partners. We felt very comfortable with them. They were very well organised, with everything available for us on arrival ensuring we slotted into their house easily.The success of our exchange was made possible by Klaus & Renate's friendship and generosity. Their house was comfortable and equipped with all we needed to live like locals. We especially appreciated the contacts we had with their friends and neighbours whom we found helpful, kind and often went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We very much liked being with them both at the beginning and end of our exchange.

  We had a wonderful Schwabach welcome from Renate and Klaus, with a friendliness and willingness to help we found repeated locally over our 2 weeks stay. This in particular made a lasting impression on us. Their home made an excellent base to take advantage of the many cycle routes, walks and cultural visits available without having to travel large distances. We enjoyed the delights of Nurnberg, Hilpolstein, Furth, Roth, Rothsee and appreciated the Bier Garten in the shady town park, coffee and cake in the Backerei and an evening outing with the local cycling group.
