A pond and wetlands are reachable by 5 min. walking: interesting for bird watchers and nature friends in general (search for "Reinheimer Teich"). You will frequently watch storks and herons. The landscape is formed by the activity of the beavers, despite they are hard to observe.
The erea closer around is fine for biking and wandering, starting with the impressive Otzberg (castle built on a former volcano).
Frankfurt city is accessible within 40min by train, Darmstadt within 15-35 min (shortest distance to the Mathildenhöhe and the Jugendstil buildings in the east of the city). The old romantic towns Erbach and Michelstadt (Odenwald area) also are reachable within 40 min. by train. There is a lot more you can easily reach by car in short time.
