Thanks for your interest in our offer. We would like to tell you something about us and our home.
Here, we have both nature and city nearby, you can get to Berlin with our car within 15 minutes (30 minutes to city center) or water our canoe /kayaks just 15 minutes away from our house and start for extended tours. Our house is comfortable and appr. 20 years old.It includes four bedrooms ,two bathrooms,a study,a kitchen with dishwasher and microwave,a large, sunny living room with fireplace, two terraces(one is a conservatory and offers a beautiful view over the landscape)and a cellar wit a hot tub as well as a billiard and a washing machine. The house is equipped with central heating,a VCR,a TV(programmes in English and French are available)and a Hifi set.We have a large, sunny garden with a pond and a parking lot for two cars(one place covered).
We live in a residential area at the edge of Vehlefanz (approx. 1600 inhabitants), a small, rural village with lakes and a picturesque windmill. You will also find Vehlefanz and the neighbouring villages under the administrational name Oberkrämer. The area belongs to former Eastern Germany, but has been substantially changed because many Berliners moved here, we used to live in Berlin as well.
The individual, detached houses around us were build during the last 20 years and many families with kids live here. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is quiet and the neighbours are friendly. The residential roads are fine for inline-skating (of course you can use our skates), the village, you will find doctors, supermarkets,a post office,a gas station, a restaurant and fast food, a bakery, a kiosk etc....
The next towns are Oranienburg former Summer Residence of Louise Henriette of Oranien with baroque period castle, but also place of the former concentration camp of Sachsenhausen, now memorial) and Velten (the stoves for Berlin were made here in the last century, interesting industrial stove museum).
It takes you about 15 minutes to reach Berlin or about 40 minutes right into the city center by car (motorway).
Berlin offers an enormous variety of museums, numerous cultural events and many interesting sets of architecture and is certainly worth visiting. Public transport to Berlin by train is also available (hourly within 800 metres or twice an hour when you drive 10 minutes to the next station).
Besides, Potsdam, former summer residence of Prussian kings with old palaces and beautiful gardens is also reachable within 45 minutes (motorway).By car, it takes only 1.5 hours to the Polish border, 2 hours to Hamburg or to the Baltic sea.
On the other hand, you can enjoy the peaceful countryside: In summer, you watch storks in the wide fields from the terrace behind our house, you can reach the woods within 15 minutes. If you ride our bicycles, you may get to a lake with a safe swimming place for children and a zoo without crossing a road- or up to Kopenhagen/Denmark on an international bike route.....Hiking, fishing, horseriding or balooning are also available nearby.
Only about 50 kilometres to the north, an extended lakeland district is situated. If you as interested canoeing as we are we can offer a collapsible boat for two and two kayaks with equipment plus a canoe if we don´t take that with us. We also own a campervan (Renault Master, sleeps two) which could possibly be part of an exchange.
