Lüdinghausen is a lovely, typical German town located in the heart of the Münsterland The house is located in a new part of Lüdinghausen. All attractions are in walking / bike distance: some big supermarkets , the town centre market places in the west, the two major castles of the town in the north. Next to the house. The city centre follows medieval structures and many buildings bear testimony to the vivid history of this area. The Münsterland is horse country: they’re several locations for horse riding in the vicinity. You can use the bicycle to explore the Münsterland. There is a network of small off site roads called “Pätkes” especially singed out on bicycle maps
If you want to learn more about the Münster land you should start with its capital. The busses take you to Münster within 30 minutes. Münster, one of the biggest German university towns, offers a wide and very attractive shopping area and many cultural activities. The Münster Zoo is nationwide known for its primates. The city won The LivCom Award first place in 2004 being the most liveable city of the world.
The region offers more the 100 castles all linked, all linked up by the bike path “100 Schlösser Route” e.g. Schloss Nordkirchen called the Versailles of the North. Other towns of the Münsterland (Dülmen, Nottuln, Billerbeck etc.) have interesting, mostly medieval centres and very beautiful surroundings with large forests or lakes.
The gate to the Ruhrgebiet is Dortmund. In the Ruhrgebiet you find an abundance of museums, art galleries, exhibitions, fairs, history monuments, sites of early industrialisation and large and attractive shopping area.
The famous city of Cologne is within one and a quarter hour ride.
If you want to visit the Netherlands, it is possible to get there within one hour drive; the famous shopping city Enschede is directly connected by train with Lüdinghausen.
In the Muensterland, there are many leisure offers, e.g. riding, horse riding, walking, swimming, golf etc, and there are many exiting leisure parks in less than one hour drive.
