Our home is a large detached house with a total of nearly 4000 ft2 (445 m2) of living space. We use the upper two floors (2700 ft2,/300 m2).
The house is located in a very comfortable upper middle class suburban neighborhood west of Washington DC. Interstate 66 gives direct access to downtown Washington. We have found that, in light traffic, it is 20 minutes from the house to the Mall, the center of government/tourist area of the city. The Vienna/Orange Line of Metro (Washington's subway) has a station about two miles from the house with parking at a reasonable price. We keep a 2018 Subaru Forester at this home,. This car has all the newest safety features.
The main floor is composed of a living room and dining room (with a fireplace) and a family room and kitchen combination. There is a half-bath/”powder room” just off the family room. The kitchen is fully equipped with mostly electric appliances (including two microwaves and many small appliances) except for the natural gas stove. The family room has a 65 inch color TV and a Bose radio/CD player. The laundry area (with washer and tumble dryer) and pantry are off this family room which, in turn, gives access to the three-car garage. The family room also opens onto a large elevated deck with a screened gazebo. The deck overlooks a wooded area we own at the rear of the house. While we are in a development with close neighbors, this wooded area, and the fact that most of the windows face on it, gives a feeling of privacy. On the upper floor there are four rooms and two baths. There is a very large master bedroom with its own dressing area and ensuite bath. This room has a king-size Tempurpedic bed and a fireplace. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed and the third bedroom has twin beds. The fourth room is furnished as an office/library. There is a large full bath that serves these three rooms.

Our home has a third level, with this lower level, or "walk-out basement", finished as an apartment. It is often rented and has its own entrance, living room, two bedrooms, kitchen, full bath and laundry facilities. About the only time we need to go down to the apartment is when we trip a circuit breaker. In such cases, if the apartment is rented, we first telephone and ask permission to enter. The circuit breaker box is in the washer-dryer room behind the kitchen.

We are experienced exchangers and would like to exchange our home and car. We have a second home in Sarasota, Florida where we keep a Volvo XC70 in the garage, This allows us to do both simultaneous and non-simultaneous exchanges. Before retiring, our professions were health research and teaching.
We are non-smokers, have no pets or inside plants and do not want anyone to smoke inside our home or cars. We also cannot consume alcohol or caffeine due to health issues, but it is fine if you enjoy them in our home.
