Only 10 minutes from home is a leasure-park. There is a lake with sandy beaches which invites for a swim, minigolf, sauna, wellness Spa and restaurants. Doetinchem has also a large and modern indoor-pool. There is a nice outdoor-pool with a slide in another little village nearby (12 min) which offers shaddow as well as sunny patches. Theatre and pictures (movies are shown in the original language) are also offering a wide program.
5 min from our home there is 'Monkey Town' ...an indoor activity-play-center for children which offers snacks and hot/cold drinks and free Wifi. Always a treat on a rainy day.
Or you could take your kids to the Pitch&Putt for some fun golf. (walking distance)
What about some fishing. The Oude Ijssel is in walking distance and there is a parking spot in case you have a bit more equipment.

Arnhem (A bridge too far/ movie) and medieval towns like Zutphen, Doesburg and Deventer are in easy reach. This is the most green part of the Netherlands which offers nice walks and is closed to the National park "Hoge Veluwe" where the Kröller-Möller-Museum is situated with the biggest private collection of old masters. The MORE (Museum of Modern Realism) is nearby in Gorssel and in Arnhem there is the museum of Modern Art.

In Arnhem you will also find the famous "Burgers- Zoo" with a desert, a jungle, a bush and a sea-world. Across the street to Zoo is a beautiful open-air museum. It shows ancient villages, mills and old trades for the whole family. There also is a tram, farm-animals and entertainment, like horse-shows, medieval musicians or little fairs. In winter there the museum offers ice-skating (skates for hire), sliding, bread baking on a stick above open fire and a lot more. Both places will need a day each to see everything.

Right across the border in Germany there are boat-trips offered on the River Rhine. These trips are very enjoyable. There also is a wonderful premium Sauna/ spa with very reasonable prices and good food. We are talking about a 20-25 min ride.

Amsterdam is less than 90 min by car.
