Retired Australian couple who live in La Creuse, Limousin, France. Bill 61, Information Technology Manager and Wendy 57, Online Communications. Married 36 years. We love to travel everywhere and anywhere.
We owned a Lemon and Lime farm in South Australia and had ducks and chickens. We have travelled extensively throughout Australia and have lived in Adelaide, Mount Gambier, Perth, Kalgoorlie, Darwin and Melbourne.
We are keen to take on house sitting /home exchange opportunities. We are non smokers and are extremely clean, tidy and considerate. I love gardening, quilting, reading books, writing, skiing, hiking, meeting new people, travelling, cooking, drinking wine, skyping with my elderly parents and family back in Australia and numerous other interests. Whilst Bill is a versatile handyman - loves his man-cave that he has set up in the barn.
We have a valid visa with plans to stay so we can apply for permanent residency.
We have some french language and have enrolled in classes in La Creuse. As well as volunteering at the local parish (we are not religious), we have integrated into our local commune.
We purchased our house in La Creuse in 2014 and moved here in July 2016 from Melbourne, Australia. We have finished renovating and are now keen to see as much of France and Europe and everywhere else.
House sitting/ house exchange provides us with a way in which we can experience living like a local whilst making new friends and helps those that are in need of a much deserved break or want to swap and experience our lifestyle in rural France.
I grew up with dogs and Bill with cats. Even though we don't have any pets we know what's involved with caring for animals.
We have completed a number of house sits but as we are new to the home exchange world, haven't completed an exchange as yet (although our very first swap has been locked in for July 2020).
We would welcome the opportunity to house sit / home exchange for you if dates and places correspond.
We are kind, considerate, caring, tidy and easy going non smokers and would take great care with your property and pets.
Please feel free to contact us if you would like further info or maybe want to skype.
Regards
Wendy and Bill

Beschreibung unseres Tauschangebotes
This house is our main residence. It's over 3 floors. The attic expands the entire top floor consisting of king size bed, bathroom with separate shower recess and bath and toilet, There is a walk in robe and cupboard space along with 2 veluxes.
As this is our own residence we may just secure this floor entirely. But are happy to discuss. There is plenty of room in the rest of the house. The house actually consists of 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms but we are only offering the 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for exchange at this stage.
The first floor consists of 2 bedrooms. One has a four poster queen size bed and wardrobe with side cupboards.
The other bedroom is aptly named the pink room and has a double bed and built in wardrobes.. Bedside lamps in both bedrooms.
On this floor is also a large bathroom with a shower over bath arrangement, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail.
There is also a large office with 2 desks and a linen cupboard with extra blankets, doonas, pillows etc.
On the ground floor, a well stocked large kitchen, lounge room and dining room with large doors opening to the front of the house. The house faces south so receives the beautiful french sun.
There is a slow combustion heater and plenty of wood in the barn.
We have added onto the rear of the house with an anteroom and summer dining area. As well as a fully equipped laundry including double trough and skylight and another bathroom with shower, toilet and hand basin.
There is electric heating and fuel heaters throughout the house. Fans are located in the kitchen and one of the bedrooms with extra pedestal fans if needed.
You will required a car as there is no public transport - we would consider a car exchange depending on circumstances.

Beschreibung unserer Nachbarschaft und Gegend
We are situated in a rural part of France where there are wonderful areas for walking (randonées/hiking). Many lakes and picnic areas. Lots of little villages to explore and not too far from the Central Massif where there's skiing at Le Mont Dore (about 1 and a half hours drive).
The nearest amenities are 10 kms & 14kms away so you will need transport. You will find a supermarket, 2 boulangeries, 2 cafes and 3 restaurants, plus 2 pharmacies, doctors, postoffice, banks and tourist office in Gouzon. A bigger village 14 kms (Boussac) has more restaurants, fantastic markets as well as the usual banks, post office, hairdressers, pharmacies, large health centre.
There are many larger towns within or just over an hours drive such as Limoges (Porcelein capital), Montlucon, Gueret, Chateauroux (train station connection), Aubusson (tapestry capital). There are great market towns as well such as Felletin, Argenton sur Creuse, Gargalisse (beau village), St Severe, Chambon sur Vouieze plus many more.
The church at Moutier d'ahun is a must to see as very unique.
Being in central France is handy also as you can be in many different countries in less than half days drive.
Our neighbours are all french and are just lovely and welcoming.

There are many hiking trails around this area.Up through forests at Toulx St Croix are many walking paths. Some that follow along a Roman wall.
We have a number of small amazing old churches that are open to the public and free of charge around the area.
There are adventure parks, trails that lead to boulders, historic preserved villages from WW2 (over an hours drive).
Tapestry towns, Porcelain town, Market towns nearby. There are a couple of horse riding schools close by.
Or if you just feel like relaxing there are plenty of books to read, lots of movies on disks or just sit on the terrace with a glass of wine and watch the french life go by. Entirely up to you. There are 2 bikes available for use.

Gute Cafes und Bars
Was wir mögen und was nicht… Dies sind unsere Wünsche und Hausregeln.
We would prefer to keep the attic as not part of the exchange. As this is our main residence we have all our personal items in this bedroom.
The rest of the house can be used as required. However would be willing to discuss the option.
We would be keeping the barns locked. There would be access to the wood barn and bicycles.
We would like to stay in touch if any problems were to crop up or any questions needed clarification and would expect the house to be kept tidy and clean upon our return.
There would only be minimal watering of plants if you feel like it (perhaps even harvesting some of the produce depending on what time of year we swap).and there are no pets. The house is not suitable for young children.
