A deux heures de Paris la Bourgogne nous a offert ses châteaux, ses abbayes, ses villages préservés, sans oublier sa gastronomie arrosée de quelques bons crus. La maison spacieuse de Gaëlle et Jean-Loup est un havre de tranquillité au milieu des champs et fait une base de départ idéal pour découvrir la région. Nos hôtes se sont montrés parfaitement attentionnés et nous ont fait une belle surprise à notre retour en nous offrant un petit film réalisé dans leur (notre) maison. Nous leur souhaitons de futurs échanges tout aussi réussis.

The house on the edge of the village was quite a contrast to our house: There is a large garden, two horses in the neighbouring meadow and a donkey at the other side of the street. Our children enjoyed it a lot. Gaelle and Jean-Loup had prepared their house very well for us. The house is a good hub for visiting many places in the Bourgogne/Yonne area such as Vezelay, Auxerre, Pontigny abbey (very near), Arcy sur Cure and many more. Gaelle and Jean-Loup had written down very accurate and useable recommendations for excursions and daily needs.Can only recommend them. Although we didn't use the bicycles the area seems very well suited for cycling as well.

We found Gaelle and Jean Loup's home in Hery to be a very comfortable and an enjoyable experience in a small French community. Gaelle went out of her way to resolve all of the little issues that arise in finalizing an exchange. Neighbours were helpful, everything needed was within a 10 minute drive and the location was terrific to explore many wonderful parts of France. We spent many days enjoying the legendary Bourgogne wine region as well as making side trips to the Alsace region and the Loire River valley. Auxerre is a substantial sized City with much to offer and less than 15 minutes away. We spent our days enjoying touring the back roads and small towns, hiking the wine country, tasting great wine and food and enjoying a warm welcome everywhere. It was our 7th home exchange and served to reinforce our belief that home exchange is a wonderful holiday option. Not only was everything ideal for our time in France; as with past exchanges our home was in perfect condition on our return.

Many thanks for our wonderful stay in your lovely home in Hery, France. We appreciated the ease of planning the simultaneous exchange with you. The location of your home made it easy to explore the local culture of both rural Burgundy and the city life of Paris. The views of golden wheat farms, green vineyards and the boats along the canals were all special. Each day we found a new Medieval Town,a castle, abbey or a monastery and of course a patisserie!
