Very beautiful house, that offers the best of both worlds: a very quiet district in the busy city of Hamburg. Regine & Peter communicate very friendly, fast and clear (in our case in English). They showed us the fascinating green cycling path along an unknown tiny river, that leads directly to centre of Hamburg. This was their first swop, but it didn’t feel like that at all: we give 5 stars (out of 5) for every aspect.

I am a journalist and worked as an news editor at the television, until my retirement in 2020. My husband and I have travelled quite a lot in the past, also with our twins, born in 1988. Peter used to live in Thailand for 4 years while he was lecturing at the University of Bangkok. I worked in Rome for 4 years as a free lancer. Lovely old villa, build in 1908, in Hamburg-Rahlstedt, a green quiet suburban aera. 5 minutes walk to station, 16 minutes by train to Hamburg central station. Large garden to relax. Our home is not suitable for small kids, teenagers are welcome.

Nice openminded neighbours to both sides. It's a green area, you may go by bike to a close nature reserve called Hoeltigbaum or go there for a walk or go jogging right away along a small river called Wandse. For a swim: A beautiful lake in the countryside is Großensee, 15 minutes by car, but also within reach by bus. A small lake in a city park is 15 minutes by bike: Freibad Ostende. And there is a public swimming pool nearby within 10 minutes walking distance, indoor and outdoor: Familienbad Rahlstedt. A pedestrian zone with all kinds of shops is 5 minutes by feet. The Baltic Sea is 45 minutes by car, also reachable by train. To Luebeck, a very romantic hanseatic city, it takes also 45 minutes.

Our neighbourhood provides you with everything you need within 5 minutes walking in the pedestrian zone. On wednesdays and saturdays you'll find a nice market with lots of stalls right in front of the station. There are also several restaurants in walking distance, which are okay but for more gourmet places you have to adventure downtown or in other areas. Really really nice cakes your will find at Schmidtchen Caféhaus, Rahlstedter Str. 68!

Our home is suitable mostly for adults but also for babies and teenage kids. Regarding babies and teenage kids: There is no special equipment! Our two adult children have left home years ago, therefore we don't have any toys around. Since there are several stairs and some pieces of antique furniture, the place is not suited for toddlers and small kids. There are a few plants to water indoor, but if you forget about it, it's no tragedy. If it's very dry, some watering of the garden would be welcome, but definitely not every day.
