We are a sweet little family of four. My husband is an orchestra conductor and I work as a special needs teacher. We love the outdoors, adventure, the arts and finding hidden gems. My husband was raised in the city and I was raised in the country of northern Ontario. That being said, we are as comfortable in the forest as we are in big cities and have raised our children just the same. Whether we're fishing, renovating old cottages or sitting through classical concerts, we enjoy. À bientôt!

Lots of mosquitoes around outside as the area is very wooded so remember your bug spray! A short walk to a small lake near the house for swimming. We enjoyed exploring nearby Wakefield which is a lovely small town about 10 minutes drive away. Lovely breakfast in Chamberlains lookout with amazing views. House was close to Lac la Peche and Lac Philippe which were great for beach days. Thanks for a great exchange.

Beschreibung unseres Tauschangebotes
Our home sits on a two acre lakeside property on Fraser Lake in Wakefield Qc. We are on a private street with a few neighbours, all of which have become like family. The house is surrounded by large maple trees, which supply us with our very much appreciated yearly supply of maple syrup. The terrain is rugged and wild and so this property is not suitable for people with limited mobility. On the first floor of the house, there is a living/dining room, kitchen, bathroom with laundry, and a piano room. On the second floor, we have the main bedroom with king sized bed and en-suite bathroom and balcony. Also, there is a large cedar post and beam solarium and a second bedroom with queen bed. On the third floor, there is a third bedroom with double bed, bathroom and shower. The basement floor boasts a living room with large stone fireplace, a bedroom with double bed, and a bathroom with shower. It is to be noted that we do not have a television (yes, we're that kind of people). However, we have high speed fiber optics and netflix that can be accessed with a computer. The back deck has a Weber barbecue and wraps around the entire back end of the house which looks over the lake below ( lake visible in three out of four seasons). There is a walking trail that leads to the lake, which is about a two minute walk from the house. The descent to the lake is steap and not suitable for people with limited mobility. The lakeside is pristine but steep (about 10 ft. off the dock). This space is not suitable for parties, as this lake is very quiet. Access to the paddle board and fishing kayak is offered. From the house, you may walk around the entire lake. It's a lovely 45 minute walk. Last, it is a lovely home and property, offering countryside and city all in one.

Beschreibung unserer Nachbarschaft und Gegend
Our lakeside neighbourhood is kind, helpful, quiet, and 3 minutes away by car from the hipster village of Wakefield. There are a few neighbours on the street, all of which are like family. Don't be surprised if you get invited to an evening by the camp fire or asked if you sing or play guitar! If you'd rather keep to yourself, it's the kind of place where you don't need to see anyone if you don't want to. There is a small grocery store at the end of our street that can help you out for whatever basics you're lacking and a few different grocery stores in the village as well. Gas is expensive in our little village so you're best to gas up in Gatineau or Ottawa on your way in. If you don't want to go to the city, Wakefield has everything you need and is a beautiful place to explore. We're right next to Gatineau Park, a national gem. Great in summer for swimming, camping, and hiking and even better in winter for x-country skiing. We're close to four major downhill skiing centers and 2 hours away from Montreal and Mont-Temblant.

From our home, it is a 5 minute drive to lovely Wakefield and the Gatineau River that runs through it. Wakefield is full of lovely shops, cafés, artisans, and shopping. Most of the restaurants serve food that is locally grown in Wakefield's surrounding farms, most of which can be visited and can supply you with fresh organic produce. There is also a spa at the historical Wakefield Mill and the Nordik Spa in Chelsea (10 minutes from the house) where you can access one of the finest nordic spas in the world. However, the best of Wakefield is seen by canoe, bike, ski or hike. Our home has access to all of these and is next door to the majestic Gatineau Park. Our home is a perfect base camp for your wildlife adventures and city tours. We are about an hour and a half away from some awesome white water rafting outfitters on the Ottawa river. Shooting the same rapids that our Indigenous and French ancestors did is pretty invigorating! These outfitters offer large rafts (quite safe) and smaller two man rafts (not so safe but super fun) for your day trip. If the night life is your thing, we recommend a show at the famous Black Sheep Inn or a classical evening at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Also, Ottawa has all that a modern and historical city can offer. Feel free to approach us for recommandations regarding anything food, music, adventure or wildlife.

This is our family home and we've put our heart and soul into making it a haven for our family and friends. It is our pleasure to share it with you and offer access to the lake and cottage on our property. We expect however to find our home the way we left it, clean and well taken care of. Our home is not appropriate for parties, events or large gatherings. As we would for you, thank you for repairing or replacing any broken items for which you are responsible. Thank you, merci!
