It is a 5 minute drive to Fernie Alpine Resort with spectacular skiing and downhill biking and zipline/ropes courses in the summer/fall. The Elk River is known for its excellent Bull Trout fishing. The Fernie Mountain Bike Club maintains a vast network of high quality trails suited for beginners all the way to experts. In the winter there are groomed trails for snow Fat Biking, the latest obsession. There are many lakes nearby, many with public beaches. The Fernie Aquatic Center provides a nice break from the cold and in the heat of summer there is an outdoor splash pad for the kids. We have taken advantage of drop-in single day camps for our kids, you do reserve a week ahead of time however, we could provide info on that for you.
