A great UK home exchange!
This was a home swap with a difference as we were visiting Plymouth to spend time with our son who is at university there. We really appreciated being able to entertain him in the Jago family's very lovely, extremely spacious and well equipped home from home. As well as affording easy access to the city centre, the historic Barbican area, marinas, the Hoe and coastal walks, the house is just a 10 minute drive/short bus ride away from Dartmoor. We enjoyed Autumnal country walks complete with wild Dartmoor ponies and a visit to the quaint old market town of Tavistock - tasty pasties and a thriving indoor craft market. Our pub highlight was finding The Leaping Salmon at Horrabridge, an independent foodie pub (check out the Sunday lunch menu!) just a 40 minute stroll along Drake's Trail from Yelverton (no 1 bus from the George Park and Ride near the house). Many thanks to Alison, Spencer and Emily for a great home swap experience. Communication was excellent throughout, our cats were well looked after and our house was beautifully clean and tidy on our return.
Wonderful house for an unforgettable holiday
Very spacious house with excellent decoration, layout, location and bedding. We especially appreciated the living room with the glass roof which even made rainy days to a wonderful experience. Ideal place to spend a quiet holiday to recharge your batteries, largely also because of the proximity of Dartmoor. Alison was always on hand to answer any questions or give good advice such as the national fireworks competition in Plymouth (which is a must in August). We really enjoyed the sights such as Polperro, Looe, St. Yves, Torquay, the aquarium etc. and even our two dogs were delighted with the play box waiting for them. The family is very pleasant and easygoing, we would highly recommend this address for a truly idyllic holiday. Thank you Alison and family for this extraodinary experience!
Lovely house in a great location
Alison and Spencer's house is large and comfortable, conveniently located to discover the delights of Plymouth and exploring Devon and Cornwall. We enjoyed all the historic areas and museums in the City and particularly liked the immediate areas of 'undiscovered' Cornwall. They made us very welcome and we had great communications, which proved very helpful and informative throughout. We had a very relaxing week - highly recommended.
Great home for exploring area
The Jago family home is very welcoming and comfortable, with a large kitchen and great lounge area both inside and out. We felt at home immediately. We have been able to explore the beautiful countryside (Dartmoor! Teign Valley just over de Welsh border! The peninsula near Plymouth!) as well as National Trust properties. Alison's recommendations for outings and pubs are very worthwhile. We can recommend staying at the Jago home to anyone keen to explore this beautiful part of Devon! Ellen and Wim
A wonderful exchange in a beautiful house
The Jago family home is huge and extremely well designed to offer both privacy and togetherness to a large party of guests. We enjoyed the bedrooms, the various private places ideal for work or reading. We loved the sitting room with its vast glass lantern room that illuminates the room until very late during the summer days that we spent there. Everything in the house—the splendid kitchen in particular— has been thought out to procure maximum efficiency and comfort. Communication with Alison has been a breeze. She was always ready to answer questions and solve our little problems with good humour and generosity. The house is situated at the gateway of picturesque Cornish sites and close to Dartmoor. Yet no need to go very far afield, we did very interesting hikes on the coastal paths on both sides of the Tamar estuary. All in all we enjoyed a very successful stay that enabled us besides to reconnect with family in England.
This was an amazing house swap for us especially after waiting 2 years due to covid. We had a great holiday and arrived to a beautiful spacious, Clean, cosy and welcoming home. Everything was to such a high standard and gave us ideas of what to offer future guests. Communicating with Alison was a pleasure and so helpful. Plymouth is a great area giving access to wonderful day trips around Devon and Cornwall but also to see the wonderful historocal side of their city. The Barbican and Hoe were fab for a day trip. There are so many unspoilt beaches without 40 mins of the house and they kindly allowed us use of thir multiple water sports equipment eg. Paddle boards, body boards, kayaks. We had a lovely few days at Helen’s lovely home. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful area, particularly walks along the river and enjoying the superb playroom and garden. Thank you for sharing your lovely home and giving us a few days with a change of four walls!
A beautiful and comfortable Plymouth home!
We have just returned from a very successful home swap with Alison, Spencer, and their daughter Emily. They have a beautiful and well-appointed home full of creature comforts, located on the outskirts of Plymouth, and accessible to many activities on the coast, Dartmoor and in the city of Plymouth itself. We exchanged for a week, but there was so much to do that we extended our holiday in an AirBNB because we didn’t want to come home! We particularly enjoyed the coastal walks, sailing and paddle-boarding, and walking on Dartmoor. For more activity, the centre of Plymouth has the Hoe and Barbican areas to explore, and the aquarium, museums, shops, restaurants and nightlife. We would highly recommend this area for a holiday for all the family as there really was something for everyone. Alison and Spencer were very warm and welcoming, and generous with their home. They are clearly experienced home swappers and thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. Highly recommended!
Lovely modern house in excellent location
We had a wonderful week in the Jagos' lovely house - which was modern, light spacious and beautifully decorated. We were greeted with some lovely treats (for us and the dog!) and some helpful suggestions of where to visit. Dartmoor was less than 10 minutes drive and we enjoyed some fabulous walks along the river. And in less than an hour we were in the Cornish fishing village of Polperro and wonderful headland at Rame's Head. We also enjoyed our first meals outside in Plymouth since the last lockdown and our 20 something children and partners (who are all vegan) were delighted with the Vegan menus! The house was spotless and ours was the same when we returned. A wonderful week all round!
Lovely home, fantastic area, great exchangers
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the Jagos' beautifully presented, light, airy modern family home on the outskirts of Plymouth, arranged rapidly as both our intended exchanges had not proceeded due to COVID-19. The house was spotlessly clean with all necessary information & accessories for a relaxing stay to hand as well as a generous welcome basket of treats. We explored the city of Plymouth with all its maritime history, the aquarium and the fact that most indoor attractions were still closed did not stop us from having a great time- visiting several gorgeous beaches, national trust properties, with cliff top and Dartmoor walks. Alison and I chatted for some time prior to & during our exchange & I really appreciated that feeling of connectedness. They treated our home with great respect. A fantastic exchange with a lovely family & their doggies.
Spacious, light, comfortable, welcoming home
We had a great exchange with the Jago family. Our pre-swap communications were positive, informative and good fun. The house was light, spacious, welcoming and comfortable and the attractive and thoughtful welcome basket was a real treat and included the ingredients for a Devon cream tea. The area which is steeped in history has interests for everyone. We achieved a visit to Lands End during the same year as one to John O'Groats during a previous exchange. Plymouth is a wonderful city and the surrounding countryside beautiful and as diverse as sunny beaches, Dartmoor Prison and lots of museums. We have no hesitation in recommending this terrific exchange to anyone who might be considering approaching Alison, Spencer, Emily and Maggie, their dog. Our own home was in perfect condition on our return and it was almost as though no-one had been here. We hope to stay in touch with our exchangers and maybe repeat the swap in the future.

Alison and Spencer have a beautiful spacious home in Plymouth, very convenient for shopping and public transport and easy to visit so many lovely places in Devon and Cornwall. We had a wonderful 10 day exchange for our home in Cork city suburbs with Alison, Spencer and their daughter Emily in Plymouth. This home is in a great location - quiet & mature setting, lovely view of the park and the city from the gorgeous spacious kitchen which also overlooks the patio and back garden. The rest of the home is also spacious, clean and comfortable with an array of books and interesting games to enjoy.

Wonderful holiday in a lovely house in Plymouth. We visited Devon, Cornwall....and all the numerous beaches! The Jago family is very friendly, and the region fantastic to discover. Tout était parfait, merci beaucoup!!!
Great location with access to the wonderful South
We had a great time in Plymouth. House is in a great location and offers opportunities to explore East, West and North. Some wonderful coastal villages to visit with many a cream tea sampled on route. There is lots to 'do' if you are feeling energetic - coastal walks, ice skating, sea fishing. There is something for everyone!! Alison and family are very friendly and happy to help. A great exchange experience. Maxine and Emily (Plus Phil and Hannah who also joined us on this exchange)

A perfect home away from home
We have just returned from a fabulous swap in Devon. The house was immaculate and had everything we could have wished for. The location was excellent and we were amazed by the amount there was to do in the area. The beds were very comfortable and the view from the lounge chairs outside was spectacular.The information the Jago family left was excellent and all the communication before hand was great too. The family have looked after our chickens and Guinea pigs and our house was left in perfect order. I can definitely recommend both the house and the family. Thank you!
Home away from home........ again!!
We visited Plymouth during the summer holidays and stayed at this lovely house for just under three weeks. What a great holiday. We loved the area, very convenient as just a step away from the city centre. Great location to explore both Devon and Cornwall. The house was perfect for us, fully equipped and had a great garden, a small paradise for my 4 year old daughter. The house was so child friendly that we did´t miss anything, it felt just like home away from home. Thank you so much for making our stay so special and for all the great tips you gave us (.....and the gourmet foodie basket which we still remember :) You made this exchange so easy for us!! And a very big thank you to the Princess of the house for sharing all her great toys with our princess!! We would definitely recommend this house for a great exchange!!!
Wonderful stay in a fasinating place
I had a great time visiting all the superb gardens, castles, beaches , fishing villages and quaint spots in Devon and Cornwall. Plymouth was the perfect place to be based as it allowed me to visit both Devon and Cornwall. Alison's and Spencer's house made a excellent base. It was comfortable and had everything that I could need. They were great to work with to organise the exchange and a pleasure to get to know. They looked after my house very well and I can recommend this location to anyone looking to explore this wonderful part of the England.
