• Peaceful with stunning views

  We had a wonderful week at Celia and Ian’s holiday house in the most beautiful, peaceful town location on Queen Charlotte Sound. Perfectly positioned for stunning views of the bay and mountains to the east - sunrise behind the sailing boats in the harbour was incredible! We walked 10 minutes from the house to the famous Queen Charlotte Track and found plenty of other walks within a short drive. The town of Anakiwa doesn’t have shops but it is less than a half hour drive to either Picton or very cute Havelock, which have grocery shops, pubs, cafe’s, restaurants and tourist sites. The Marlborough Sounds has so much gorgeous untouched wilderness, a lot only accessible by boat, but we saw several day cruise boats pick up from the wharf in Anakiwa. Though we didn’t get onto the water, we drove along some fun winding roads beside the water to beautiful bays. The house was very comfortable and had absolutely everything we could want, we spent a lot of time out on the huge deck. We highly recommend Celia and Ian’s holiday house to anyone looking for peace and quiet surrounded by the beauty of nature.

• Spectacular views in a relaxing spot

  We had a lovely break at Celia and Ian's holiday batch as part of a holiday in the South Island. The view from the verandah during the day and with the sunsets in the evening were gorgeous and very relaxing. You could watch the Picton-Wellington ferry in the distance.The Marlborough Sounds is a very scenic area of the South Island with spectacular water views. The Queen Charlotte Sound walk ends here so you can walk part of it from the house. We hired kayaks from a local company for the morning and then they picked me up at lunchtime to drive back while they kitted Lloyd out with a mountain bike to ride back along the trail. We did day trips into Picton, and Blenheim to visit wineries and enjoy some great food.
