  • We had a lovely time at Sarah’s and Mark’s Townfield Head Farm. It has been our first exchange including car swapping and it turned out to be so good. Having a prepared car when arriving at Manchester Airport was so comfortable. The house is so spacious and cozy with its multiple rooms, table tennis table and many instruments. Additionally, Sarah prepared a delicious self-cooked meal, left a homemade chutney, local drinks and had brought loads of gluten-free products for us when we arrived late at night. Furthermore, the gigantic garden next to the house offered raspberries, currents, onions and much more for us to use. Also, feeding the chickens and getting rewarded with multiple eggs was super fun. The gorgeous friends Sue and John often came around to check for the ponies and we always enjoyed having a lovely chat with them, including gaining some insider-information on what to do nearby. During our time in England, we visited the magnificent town of York with its breath-taking cathedral, the lifeful Manchester, the cute cities of Bakewell and Buxton. Furthermore, we enjoyed the delicious Bakewell Pudding at a tearoom, the ice-cream of the nearby Molly-farm and even got the opportunity to have a drink and dinner at a traditional English Pub at High-Bradfield including a nice view. Also, we did lots of hiking in the beautiful Peak District which is located right next-door. Even a trip to Hardwicks Hall, Chatsworth House and Park allowed us a glance into English history. As we returned home, we found our house tidy and clean. Also, thanks to Sarah and Mark for the bottles of wine they gifted us. Looking back, we can say, that we truly enjoyed our trip to Townfield Head Farm even though the weather was typically British (rainy and cloudy ?). A special thank you again to the hosts Mark and Sarah for this unforgivable vacation!

  • a lovely home surrounded by unique nature

We spent a wonderful holiday in Marc and Sarahs comfortable spacious home. The kids loved the vast selection of games. The would have played the whole day without asking for anything else. We enjoyed the time we spent with the horses, riding in the manege and taking them on walkes very much. The matchless landscape of Peak District gave us stunning views on the rock formations, the wide heather fields, waterfalls and lovely hills. We loved walking there. Sarah prepared excelent material and maps to make sure we can enjoy hiking there. The trip to Colwyn Bay -a wonderful beach in Northwales was well worth to drive there. Our teenagers were very fond of the Quad tour in Wild Park Derbyshire. Sarahs kitchen is well equipped and she prepared a very tasty meal for us. We were surprised by thoughtful prepared, very generous gifts both when we arrived there and when we came back home. Surely it will be an unforgettable holiday. Thank you Marc and Sarah and family for this wonderful exchange! We enjoyed you great hospitality very much.

  • Warm exchange in family farm in Peak District

Our stay with our family of 5 in the lovely, large and warm family farm was amazing! It's right in the middle of Peak District, you could even take a hike right off the farm! Our kids loved the ponies, horses and chickens. We did not have to take care of the animals, but it was so nice to have them around and Sue and John who came by every day to care for the animals were very nice!! They took the kids out riding in the Manege and our daughter was there most of the mornings to help them with the animals. The house is amazingly well equipt for cooking; There are many bedrooms and bathrooms; lot's of toys and games for the children as well as a trampoline and bikes; lot's of books, dvd's; an amazing vegetable garden you could dream off with table and bbq right in the garden; fresh milk and joghurts 3/4 times a week right at the door; an orchard with fruit trees where you can sit and enjoy the view; and lots more. Our cow Molly ice-cream (and more) is not far and if you're into Robin Hood history, Little Johns grave we visited in an nearby village. Sheffield is really close by which is a really nice town; the beach is a 2 hour car ride and we loved Whitby beach and Robin Hood's bay. As well as the train ride (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) which is used in the harry Potter films we took from Whitby station to Pickering was really nice! We were really sad to leave the home of Sarah and Mark, but came back in our home in Amsterdam which was in great shape and well cared for. we would recommend an exchange with this lovely home very much! Thanks Sarah and Mark and children, hope you enjoyed! Marc&Brenda

  • We had a great time at Sarah and Mark’house which is very confortable, pleasant and really spacious to live in! We really enjoyed to spend one evening with them and discovered a sweet family with strong links. The country side around the house is peaceful and quiet. It was great to ride theirs ponies DeeDee and Kiwi thanks to theirs so nice neighbours. Sheffield is an incredible place for who likes to hike and walk: the Peak national district Park offers amazing landscapes! Sarah and Mark left us a hugh folder with many suggestions : places to visit, activities to do… We had a fabulous time in Chatsworth castle, and really enjoyed the city of York. Since this was our first home exchange, Sarah helped us to feel more comfortable. Back home we were pleased to find everything in good repair, accompanied by a thoughtful thank you note and a gift of insightful consideration. We are pleased to recommend them to you for any exchanges you may be considering. Stephanie and Yves
