Vi er

We retired in 2017 and enjoy travelling, sailing, walking and playing tennis; so there is no time for golf..... which is why many people come to Portugal. With family in New Zealand and Australia we plan to spend more time travelling around those countries. So if you want to swap houses let us know. We have concluded many house swaps over the last few years and have really appreciated our hosts houses and by the feedback are so pleased that they have enjoyed staying here.

Jeff and Vicky are awesome hosts and go out of their way to ensure their guests will be comfortable in their villa. Their villa has all modern amenities; enjoyed the warmth and ambiance of the wood burning fireplace; as well as very comfortable beds. Grapefruit, oranges and lemons were in season, which we enjoyed picking from the yard and eating for breakfast. It's a 20 minute walk into Alvor, an upscale fishing village, where the people, products and services were excellent ( wine, cheese, meat, restaurants). Vicky & Jeff made us so welcome on our first ever home exchange. The house was superb, terrace was just lovely sitting out on the comfortable chairs looking at the amazing blue skies and enjoying the sunshine. Alvor is a quaint and interesting town and we enjoyed all the walks - on the cliffs, beach and out to the Estuary. So many other towns that were easy to get to on the bus and so interesting once we arrived. The Restaurants in Alvor with all the seafood were amazing and we certainly enjoyed trying the different dishes. Our 2 weeks there just flew by. Would certainly like to return there one day! Alvor is a very quaint small town with great boardwalks, beaches, restaurants and wonderful holiday atmosphere. The surrounding countryside and towns provided a good variation of historic interest, scenery and crafts and beaches.

PLEASE , only enquiries from our preferred destinations. Large two bedroom, two bathroom apartment on the upper floor of our villa; which features a large wrap around terrace with superb distant views. Great for all year round living. Probably the best climate in Europe with frequent blue skies and moderate winter temperatures. Located within walking distance from one of the best villages on the Algarve. Long sandy beaches , wonderful cliff top walks, tranquil walks along the estuary starting near the villa and ending up in the village. Board walks across the dunes to the headland. Numerous restaurants and cafes, all within walking distance. Interesting and historic towns and villages all within half an hours drive. Easy access to Lisbon by train or coach. We welcome non simultaneous exchange to suit your travel plans. See also Casa Mirama Poolside which is on the ground floor of the villa and available on request subject to availability.

Casa Mirama Terrace is on the upper floor of a large villa.
Located within walking distance of Alvor which has such a great reputation that many people come back year after year.
So many restaurants we do not even start to give recommendations. For those who like their fish fresh and on the bone you cannot beat it.
Busy in August, which is high season, we are located just far enough away where you have a nice shaded terrace for relaxing.
Easy driving along the coast and into the mountain ranges brings you to interesting and historic towns and villages.
A good base to visit Lisbon as buses and trains run on a regular basis. Porto is an hours flight from Faro with Ryanair flying 3 x per week. Both cities would need a couple of days to make the most of most of the trip.

The apartment is 15 minutes walk to the village, 25 minutes walk to the beach, 5 minutes by car to the beach and 45 minutes to Faro airport. Major cities: 2.5 hours by car, bus or train from Lisbon, 3 hours by car from Seville and 2.5 hours flight from the UK. Note; you will need at least two days minimum stopover in Lisbon or Seville to see the sights.

This apartment is suitable for year round stays. It has a log fire, air conditioning in all rooms, a part glazed terrace which can be used all year round. The swimming pool is not accessible to this apartment. see Casa Mirama Poolside. We welcome non simultaneous exchanges
