It is a 20 min. walk or 5 min. bike Downtown, but there is a small shopping centre across the road for all the daily groceries.
Zutphen is a more then thousand years old town, with a lot of historical buildings, churches, museum and old houses and shops. The western side of Zutphen has a typical Dutch landscape with the river, dikes, and windmills, to the east there is forest, castles and old land houses. We have a good public transport system. The train brings you every half an hour to all parts of our country and to the rest of Europe. By car you are within 1 hour in Amsterdam (Rijksmuseum, Rembrandt, Frans Hals, Vermeer etc. Van Gogh museum and lots more) It is a 1 1/2 hour drive to the Hague. the sea and Rotterdam. By car it is 30 minutes to the German border (winter-skiing in Winterberg, the car has winter tyres)and 5 hours to Berlin. To the south, you are in 5 1/2 hours in Paris. And, very important, most people in Holland speak a little or more English
