We are a family of 4 from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Thomas works as a firefighter and Erin is a midwife on hiatus while raising our small children, Josephine who is 3 and Samuel who is 1. We enjoy a rural life of taking care of our 10 acre farm, gardening, and being on the water.
We have always loved to travel. Prior to having a family we travelled widely through work exchange on farms. We loved how that type of travel connected us in a different way to the place and the community than we would have been as traditional tourists. We are open to going anywhere and excited to think that about travelling somewhere we wouldn't have otherwise gone, and now sharing the adventure with our children!
We are offering our family's second home in Jackson, Wyoming as well as the guesthouse (and/or home) on our family's farm in Cape Charles, Virginia for our swap. Both homes can accommodate non-simultaneous swaps. A car swap is possible for our home in Virginia. We operate a bed and breakfast in our guesthouse through AirBNB, and so understand how you expect your home to be treated. We are excited to plan our first ever home swap and assure you that your home will be in good hands with us! We look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Beskrivelse af vores byttebolig
This is a contemporary 900 square foot guesthouse on our family farm. It is separated from the main house by a 6 foot breezeway and has it's own driveway and entrance. The home is on one level and there aren't any steps anywhere. It was newly constructed in 2017, and is a comfortable, light-filled space with field views. There is a king sized bed in the master suite with a bathtub and shower combination. There is a second full bath with a walk-in shower. There are 2 twin fold-out beds in the common area perfect for kids. The kitchen is fully stocked and will satisfy the most gourmet chef. There is a television room with a roomy sectional sofa. A highlight is the screened in back porch with a porch swing and dining table, facing the woods. Ours is a small 10 acre farm that at the moment is planted with sunflowers in the summer. We have a large vegetable garden, the beginnings of an orchard, chickens, barn cats and a Great Pyrenees dog. The farm is down a quiet dirt road and very private. The homesite overlooks the fields. Behind the houses, you wander down a trail through the woods to reach the water. We live on Old Plantation Creek which is an inlet off the Chesapeake Bay. We have excellent crabbing, fishing, kayaking, swimming, and boating in the "creek" as such inlets are known here. There are 2 kayaks available and we have a small jon boat and Hobie cat. There is a beautiful fire circle in the woods stocked with firewood if you fancy a bonfire. There is excellent, car-free walking and biking from the home. It is a perfect place of a couple, or a small family. More than 2 adults will not be comfortable here. The main home is not officially listed, but could be made available for a simultaneous trade if more people would like to be accommodated.

Vores lokale tips for muligheder, steder at besøge, mens du er i vor bolig
We are located on a place called the Eastern Shore of Virginia, a narrow peninsula that comes down from Maryland and is not attached to the rest of the state of Virginia. For a long time it was left off of maps (and many of us liked it that way!) To the west we are bordered by the Chesapeake Bay, and to the East the Atlantic Ocean. Our home is located very close to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay where it meets the Ocean, and the land is only a few miles in width from one body of water to the other. You would most likely come to the Eastern Shore by flying into Norfolk International Airport, and then crossing the 17 mile long Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, a trip that would take you about 40 minutes. The Eastern Shore is known for it's beautiful beaches, history, rural character, and peaceful natural surroundings. We have the largest stretch of coastal wilderness remaining on the East Coast of the U.S.
Our home is in the country, but we are a 5 minute drive to the charming town of Cape Charles. Cape Charles boasts a public beach, fishing pier, world-class golf course, and a cute main street with restaurants, shops and galleries. Day trips abound, from here we are 50 miles from Assateague and Chincoteague Islands and 30 miles from Onancock where one can catch the ferry to Tangier Island. If we are here when you come, we would love to show you why we love this place our family has called home for hundreds of years!
Hvad kan vi lide eller ikke lide. Her er vores ønsker og boligregler
We expect that you will care for our home the way that you would your own.
