What a beautiful home in a wonderful area of Turkey. The view, the house, the pool, the friendly people, interesting sights to see within easy access--it was all fantastic. John and Shireen were very easy to communicate with, and even though we have not met them, we feel like they are good friends.

This home was everything one could look for in a Turkish holiday villa. The pool and garden were particularly lovely, and the gardener arrived every morning to hose down the pool and keep the garden immaculate. Shireen was very helpful on Whatsapp with any advice we requested. This made a lovely end to the Summer.

John and Shireen made us feel very at home in their beautiful house, even waiting until quite late at night to welcome us and show us around. They left plenty of information for us about the house and surrounding area, which was very helpful. It was hard to tear ourselves away from the house but there is a lot of Turkish culture and life to explore and experience in the vicinity.

That was our first home exchange and what a great experience it was. John and Shireen were really helpful and communication worked really well before and during the swap. They even provided information for arranging airport transfers. Their house was fantastic, a beautiful swimming pool and gorgeous, well tended garden overlooking the sea. It had everything we needed for our family holiday. Although we had been to Turkey before it was our first time in Kas. It is a lovely town with plenty of shops, restaurants and a weekly market. We went on a couple of lovely boat trips and the highlight was visiting the Sunken City on one of those trips. We feel really relaxed after our holiday and ready for another year. Our top tip is make use of the local bus 'domus' from the village into Kas, it is an easy, cheap and regular service. We managed the entire holiday without car. Thanks John and Shireen.

John and Shireen's home was unbelievably tranquil and relaxing with an amazing view of the mediterranean. It was also a great base from which to visit the huge range of attractions in the area. They helped us arrange a transfer from the airport which worked perfectly and we decided not to hire a car which was a good decision given the fantastic, regular and very cheap public transport. The children loved the pool and the goats and the tortoises that were wandering around and we all loved the markets and the various ancient monuments and attractions in neighbouring towns. We've fallen in love with the area and are already planning a trip back!

What a wonderful holiday we (four, retired female friends from the U.K. and Romania) had in Turkey in September 2018! We travelled to Istanbul, Cappadocia, Antalya, Selcuk/Ephesus and Kas. In Kas we stayed for 12 days in Shireen and John’s dream home in Gokseki, in its perfect paradise location. We relaxed at home by the unbelievable pool with its cooling waters, on spacious terraces and in the lush, exotic and colourful garden, all with breath-taking sea views and stunning sunsets. It was a privilege to be guests in Shireen and John’s spacious, welcoming, airy and peaceful home, decorated in such exquisite taste and with all mod-cons. There were many comfortable and secluded indoor and outdoor spaces to spend both private time and sociable time. We enjoyed many a cocktail looking out to sea at the stunning sunsets. We always felt secure in the knowledge that if we had any problems, Omer, the gardener and caretaker, was a text away to assist us. The house notes, guides and maps that Shireen and John left for us were invaluable in enabling us to take full advantage of the location. Gokseki is a 20 minute dolmus (local bus) ride from the small, seaside town of Kas with its wonderful restaurants, cafes, shops and the Friday market. We very much enjoyed using the regular and comfortable local transport-there was no need to hire a car to get around easily. We spent lazy, happy days on sandy (Kaputas) and pebbly (more local) beaches and went on a stunning Kekova day boat trip-sunken city on Kekova, Simena Castle, 4-5 dips in the calm, clear, warm, turquoise Med waters, delicious snacks and lunch, superb guide, no onboard music. We visited Lycian ruins and particularly enjoyed Phaselis and climbing up to the Chimera at Olympus on our way to Gokseki from Antalya. We had planned to hike part of the ancient Lycian Way but somehow time ran out. This is one of the reasons we would definitely like to return to Gokseki for another relaxing, rejuvenating and stimulating holiday. In Shereen and John's beautiful and sophisticated house and garden we had wonderful days. We felt completely safe and very at ease to travel and explore the surroundings. People are very friendly and reliable which makes the language barrier nearly not existent. We took public transportation which was always punctual and so we mingled and communicated with the people from the village. Never we had the impression of facing any danger or of interference of political influences; it was just comfortable and beautiful. Kas has a special atmosphere, the sea- and landscapes are generous, it is Mediterranean in its purest essence, there are many historical signs that tell us : here are very strong roots of our western civilization,. Everybody made a stop here: the Lycians, the Greeks, the Romans, St Paul, St Nicolas..... Well, keep it a secret, this exchange is just marvellous, one of the very most enjoyable!

We had a delightful holiday in John and Shireen's lovely, spacious home. It is in a little hillside village with breathtaking views outside the historic Mediterranean town of Kas which has many very cool bars and restaurants (mainly in the old town) and attracts many who are interested in scuba diving, kayaking and other water sports. We loved trying scuba diving and kayaking to see a sunken city. We also liked that Kas was well away from tourist resorts. It was our first visit to Turkey and certainly not the last. It was a challenge to equate the peaceful, prosperous country we saw with excited news reports in the UK media about political and economic developments. Even in Istanbul, (840 kms away) we felt perfectly safe walking around on and off the beaten track. It was around 34C when we were in Kas so the air conditioning and private pool were a particular delight. Lovely too to have home made bread delivered every morning. Thank you John and Shireen for a throughly enjoyable holiday.

We had a fabulous time at John and Shireen's house, Altin Kosk. Both the house and the local area surpassed expectations. We spent some days lounging in the sun or shade, by the pool, under the fan, on the terrace and balcony. The house has plenty of space and different spaces for us all. And other days enjoying activities around Kas - scuba diving, snorkelling, canyoning, and visiting Salikent Gorge. Gokseki is a little village along the highway and up a hill from Kas, which is a bustling tourist town - for Turkish not international tourists. It was really easy to get in and out of Kas, either by Dolmus or in our hired car (which was barely necessary, but good value and useful for a party of 5 with different plans). We enjoyed lots of local restaurants, taking up John and Shireen's advice. We even checked out the local medical facilities (on a Saturday of Eid and on a Sunday at 3am!) and can assure they are excellent. Our three teens loved it too, and the wifi was good enough for exam results day and even watching some football streams. Shireen and John were incredibly helpful putting us in touch with the local companies that provide airport transport and excursions, and the gardener Omar brought fresh bread each day. It really was our best house-swap to date, and we started swaps over a decade ago. Thanks Shireen and John!

Your light and very comfortable house with art to enjoy from all over the world, the various balconies and terraces and the lovely swimmingpool. Bohemian Kas is fantastic. The atmosphere in the town is delightful and we enjoyed the tasteful Turkish cuisine in many different restaurants. The Turkish locals were so friendly and helpful towards us. We made the most of the many affordable outdoor activities: we went paragliding, kayaking, diving, fishing from a boat and went on a safari tour. Thanks for your recommendations and for all the help from Omer and his wife. We highly recommend this exchange and we would love to come back.

There are lots of things to do in the area and all accessible by public transport so we alternated a relaxing pool day with a trip out.

This was a really wonderful exchange. The house had everything you could need to enjoy a holiday and was spacious and comfortable. The setting was amazing and the people in the area were so welcoming and helpful. It is an ideal base for exploring this beautiful region of Turkey. John and Shireen were so helpful in every respect, helping to organise taxi transfers to and from the airport, car hire and daily bread deliveries! I would highly recommend a swap with this family.
