Morbihan boasts a large amount of megalithic heritage, with sites of international renown, such as Carnac and Locmariaquer, located in the region. A megalith is a large stone used to build a monument. The structure itself is referred to as a megalithic monument. There are many ancient megaliths and megalithic monuments in the region, with menhirs, dolmens, archaeological sites and tumuli all to be found.
