John is a retired University lecturer (Physical Education & IT) and Alison is a retired Physical Education teacher. We are both very keen sports people and cycle (road and mountain), run, play tennis, golf and swim regularly. We are both non smokers.
We are in a mixed group of cyclists all about our age who ride regularly around the many cycle circuits around Bendigo and in the State forest adjoining our property. We also compete in the local cross country running club which is a very social and friendly environment. John is a member of Axedale Golf club and Alison is a member of the Bendigo Tennis Complex. If interested, you would be made very welcome at any of these activities.

We live in the regional city of Bendigo in central Victoria.
Our street is in a tree-lined street with natural state forest directly adjoining the property. We are only a 5 minute walk from a shopping centre where you will find a supermarket, butcher, bakery, pharmacy, post office and some fast food restaurants.
Our home is comfortable and spacious with many windows providing plenty of light inside. We have 3 double bedrooms, a separate lounge room, large open plan living, dining and kitchen area overlooking a 12 metre in-ground solar heated pool, an outside living area and a full size tennis court.(SEE Map Link for location of house and nearby towns. We have a cleaner visit one half day per fortnight.
We have 2 road bikes, 2 mountain bikes, hiking packs, golf clubs and a car for your use if needed.
International travellers would arrive into Melbourne airport which is serviced by the Bendigo bus line to Bendigo. Melbourne airport is about 90 minutes drive to Bendigo.

Bendigo (population 120,000) is an attractive city with tree-lined streets and historic buildings dating back to the 1850's gold rush era.
Bendigo is home to an extensive art gallery and vibrant theatre hosting numerous world class cultural events. Bendigo and neighbouring towns Castlemaine, Maldon and Heathcote are highly regarded for their food and wine culture. Bendigo also has a strong sporting culture with a wide variety of sports on offer.
We enjoy visiting cafes for a relaxing coffee or bite to eat. There are many popular places to go in Bendigo and our favourites are the Brewhouse, The Wholesome Bean, the Good Loaf, the Corner Store Cafe and the Old Green Bean.
We are keen wine drinkers and can recommend some of the award winning local wineries where a meal and wine tasting can be a perfect afternoon. Blackjack, Heathcote and Balgownie wineries should be on the list.

We go to Melbourne often and enjoy the following
- Aussie rules football at the MCG
- the Victoria Market, Chinatown
- the wide array of eateries
- eclectic shopping
- theatres, galleries, museums
- major sporting events a various venues
- laneways with shops and hidden bars
Melbourne can be reached easily by train (trains leaving every hour) or by car (freeway 1.5 hours). With Melbourne so close, we take day trips to attend sporting events including the Australian Open tennis, Australian Rules Football, soccer, cricket, etc. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (100,000 people) is where many major sporting events are held. We have MCG membership and can organise tickets for you.
We holiday regularly along the coast at Anglesea, Lorne & Wye River which are located along the spectacular Great Ocean Road. Anglesea is approx. 2 ½ hrs drive. Echuca (1 hr drive )is a popular tourist destination where you can holiday on a houseboat or enjoy lunch on board a paddle-steamer on the Murray River.
