Active retirees, enjoy gardening, walking, visiting small towns and villages, vintage shopping & cycling . We also enjoy museums, historic places and the simple things in life bring us the most pleasure. We enjoy eating out but also enjoy home cooking. We are fortunate to live in one of largest food bowl areas of the Northern Rivers of NSW which gives us access to quality produce year round.

Our small village is situated in one of the most densely populated rural areas in Australia. The Northern Rivers is known for its dairy farming, tropical fruit, avocado, sugar cane, coffee and various nut plantations.
Many of the region's World Heritage listed rainforests and National Parks are within easy reach of our village.
It's a relaxed and vibrant area, where you can stroll through the local markets, sampling organic produce and colourful crafts. Explore the many galleries of our local artists.
There are a number of important indigenous sites including Wollumbin (Mt.Warning). It is a sacred place of great spiritual significance to the people of the Bundjalung Nation.
Standing on the most easterly point of the Australian mainland is the Cape Byron Reserve, with its unsurpassed panoramic ocean and north coast hinterland views.
A spectacular cliff top walk provides outstanding vantage points for viewing a variety of marine life including turtles, dolphins and humpback whales on their annual migration.
Our home is a 3 br Contemporary/casual open plan design. With a large outdoor eating area gas bbq and ample seating for that relaxing informal dinner. We have two
bathrooms one of which has a large bath- for those who like a soak.
We are situated on the Plateau an easy 15m drive to nearest surf beach (no crowds)

Beskrivelse af omegn
We are positioned in an ideal place for exploring the Byron Bay hinterland, with only a 50min drive from the Gold Coast.
Sub-Tropical NSW:The Pacific Higway is a popular route to explore all along the east coast of Australia, yet venturing off this main tourist route has its rewards. This is particularly true of the North Coast in NSW.
Long beaches, some stretching for kilometers, world class surfing, lush river systems and stunning national parks with World Heritage listing, make the region a great place to explore before either venturing north to Brisbane or south to Sydney.
Byron Bay Lighthouse is a must see for those in the Northern Rivers region, spectacularly located for a picnic with an ocean breeze and view. Keep an eye out at our local beach (Ballina) for dolphins, turtles at all times and whales (May thru to October) Mt Warning is an inactive volcano which covers a massive 400 square km and can be found within the Mt Warning national park. Given its name by Captain Cook, it was used as a warning to sailors of the dangerous Point Danger near Tweed Heads. Mount Warning was added to the World Heritage list in 1975, and is the first point of land to see sun in Australia each morning. www.visitlismore.com.au
Wake to the sounds of nature. Our home is very quite and peaceful with abundant birdlife and native animals. Plenty of walking/cycling
paths and choices for coffee to watch the world go by. Whale watching from early May through to October.

Vores lokale tips for muligheder, steder at besøge, mens du er i vor bolig
From World Heritage rainforests, Richmond River platypus and beautiful beaches to farmers markets and art trails, the Northern Rivers region is rich with wonderful attractions. Visit picturesque riverside towns, relax on white sandy beaches and explore spectacular wilderness. On the far North Coast of NSW, explore the meandering rivers, and World Heritage rainforests and spectacular coastal national parks. You’re also likely to encounter koalas in the hinterland, as the area has one of the biggest koala populations in NSW.
You can visit injured koalas at the Koala Care Centre in Lismore, on the banks of Wilsons River where you’ll find an enchanting walkway. The town has vibrant arts community, delicious cafes and restaurants, and you can taste fresh local produce at the Lismore Organic Market, held weekly. From Lismore, take scenic drives to other popular towns and villages in the region, such as 30 minutes southwest to Casino for the Platypus Pool in the Richmond River and 40 minutes southeast to Evans Head, a seaside town with great beaches and a popular spot for fishing. Murwillumbah's Gallery which has a permanent Margaret Olley exhibition, along with the Lismore & Ballina Galleries.
About 32 minutes north of Lismore is Nimbin, a colourful alternative lifestyle centre. The village is near Nightcap National Park, Border Ranges National Park and Wollumbin National Park, all part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area.
Ballina, a 15 min drive from our home has a selection of quite surf beaches and river swimming opportunities. Weekly produce markets that offer great international pop up foodvans choices. The bright lights of Gold Coast is only a 50min drive away from home. Although we prefer the night skies of our home where you can view the southern cross and the milky way. Encounter astonishing Humpback Whales in their natural habitat as they migrate past the coastline between Ballina and Byron Bay. So as you can see you won't be short of things to do.
