Energetic, recently retired couple enjoying mountain walks , music and travel . We will travel as a couple and would generally only to exchange with similar or family with adult children.. Keen gardeners in main home, so plant care a real pleasure. Am exchanging second home so dates pretty flexible. Shorter UK, ( or European if airport nearby) welcome as have caring responsibilities for elderly mother. Husband allergic to cats so non offers if pet care required..

Sarah and Hywell's barn in the Brecon Becons was just perfect. Sheep at the end of the garden, hills and forests to walk to from the house. The log burner was perfect for a chilly evening. Such a relaxing week. We watched the red kites at a local feeding station, had a perfect meal at the Three Horseshoes and walked through beautiful landscapes. A great place to stay and recharge our batteries. Highly recommended.

I rreally enjoyed the proximity of so many excellent walks - of all grades, eg canal to Brecon itself - very old and interesting, and Pen y Fan, highest mt is the south of Britain. I am so proud I climbed this and as we had 2 cars we walked up the easy way and down the pretty way (S to N). Unforgettable. I also walked to see the crashed WWII Canadian bomber - another challenge. Returning to the "barn" to rest weary legs was so good - convenient and comfortable. No internet meant a welcome break from incessant e-mails, instead there were books to enjoy and a comfy bed from where one could also enjoy the views.

We are so grateful to have stayed at Sarah's superb rural retreat in the hamlet of Talyllyn, 5 miles from Brecon within the Brecon Beacons National Park. A perfect base to explore. We both relaxed and went walking every day. Views across the valleys are amazing with lakes, mountains and footpaths. Talybon reservoir with waterfalls, Taff Trail, Canal walk into beautiful Brecon (Cathedral and lots of shops, pubs etc) and quiet country lanes. On the way home, we stopped off at Skenfrith Castle, near Abergavenny. Love to visit again sometime.

Beskrivelse af vores byttebolig

Luxury barn conversion, wood burning stove, underfloor heating, close to Llangorse lake. Even has a stressless lounger recliner for those with back problems! Our barn is the single story through the smaller gate at the bottom of yard in photos) Excellent Black Mountain views from garden, field (and hammock;) 1 acre field; delightful walks on ridgeway overlooking Brecon Beacons directly above cottage. Allt yr Efail 2 miles walk via Pennorth. Adults only, as we would only be 2 adults
in exchange. Husband allergic to cat fur I'm afraid so can't care for /swap with cat owners.

Set in heart of Brecon Beacon national park. Lovely walks from cottage along ridgeway, and best hikes in Britain close by. Very rural set in small village 20 minute stroll to nearest pub. Area renown for excellent restaurants and pubs. Llangorse lake has boat hire and sailing club 5 mins drive. Hay literature festival, Brecon jazz, Abergavenny food festival all popular events. River Usk and Brecon Monmouthshire canal 2 miles drive,Talgarth and Brecon 10 mins, lots of cafes and restaurants, theatre and cinema, Brecon and Hay, Flix in sticks more locally Talgarth Crickhowell. Riding stables near lake and on mountain overlooking lake, bike and canal day boat hire locally. Great museum in Brecon and crannog on the lake. No public transport, car essential.Supermarkets brecon Talgarth and Abergavenny. Wide variety local shops and delicatessens

We would prefer to swap with people similar to ourselves, ie a retired couple or one person in each bedroom. No pets at all as we have allergies to pet fur, cat and dog. The barn is not designed for children eg glass shelves and central wood burning stove make it entirely unsuitable.
