The apartment is located in the charming and cosy neighbourhood called Latinerkvarteret (Latin Quarter), which is one of Aarhus' oldest and most attractive neighbourhoods.
You will find cosy restaurants, trendy cafés and wine bars just outside the front door together with specialist shops with everything from food to jewellery and clothing. However it is still nice and quiet because there is almost no traffic at the old and small cobblestoned streets in the area.
Aarhus is also called the smallest big city, and with the apartment located in the city center you are within walking distance to ’Den Gamle By’ (The Old Town) a Danish open-air museum, the botanical garden, Riis Forest (good hiking conditions), the art museum ARoS, the City Hall of Aarhus, the Cathedral, an urban harbour area, and you will find fine classic Danish beaches about 10 minutes away by bus. Moreover, there is only 5 minutes’ walk from the main shopping street – ’Strøget’, a pedestrian Street with many shopping opportunities. Close by you will also find Tivoli, an amusement park and ’Marselisborg Lystbådehavn’ (a small city marina) and Marselisborg Castle, which is our Queen Margrethe II's summer residence. When the Queen is in residence, which she mostly is during July and December (but you can see the actually times and dates on the Royal Family's website) there will be guard shift with the Royal Lifeguard every day at noon, outside the Castle gate. If the Queen is not in residence, you can free of charge take a stroll through the amazing old garden surrounding the castle.
