We are a family of four; two adults (Dick and Michelle), twin 13 year-olds and our hypoallergenic dog Smitty. Dick has recently retired from the corporate world and is back consulting, while Michelle is embarking on a new career as a strategy analyst.
We moved to our family friendly neighborhood when our children were born. We enjoy outdoor activities, travelling and experiencing new things with our kids.
Due to COVID, our plans for international travel this summer are on hold. Still wanting to experience something new and interesting, we've decided to spend a month on Vancouver Island. As we both work remotely, we do have some flexibility.

Beskrivelse af vores byttebolig
Large, comfortable executive home on quiet street in Calgary's inner city. Ideal for an active family with kids - and grandparents too if they'll be joining you. 5 minutes to downtown. Even closer to the vibrant shopping / dining area of Kensington. Numerous parks within walking distance (including a large off-lease dog park 2 blocks away), and 1 km from the extensive cycle and running path system along the beautiful Bow River.
Our home was built in 2004, is just under 2600 sq ft on the main and upper levels, and we have done four reno's since taking possession in 2007 so the house is in excellent condition.
Upstairs has the master bedroom with en-suite, and three other bedrooms (1 queen and 2 doubles). Main floor has a large home office, piano room, open kitchen and dining area, TV / lounge area and mudroom. Basement is fully developed with a second TV and lounging area, another home office work space, and a large fifth bedroom if required. Backyard has a deck equipped with a natural gas bar-b-que (no bothering with propane tanks), a large Springfree trampoline and a secure detached garage.
We are 2 minutes to Highway 1 for direct access to Kananaskis Country, Canmore, Banff, Radium Hot Springs, Invermere and Lake Louise. And Highway 2 is less than five miles east, which takes you north to Sylvan Lake and Edmonton, north east to Drumheller, or south to Lethbridge and Fernie.

Beskrivelse af omegn
We live in the quiet inner city neighborhood of West Hillhurst, and are fortunate to be on one of the nicest streets in that neighborhood. You'll be a 5 minute drive to downtown, and even closer to the vibrant shopping / dining area of Kensington.
It's a great location for everyone in your family - including your dog ! There are numerous parks close by. Grand Trunk playground is at the end of our street; a wide open off-lease dog park is 2 blocks away, and we are 1 km from the extensive cycling and running path system along the Bow River.
For all of your larger shopping needs (including groceries, electronics, clothing, drug store items, liquor sales, etc), Calgary's North Hill shopping centre is 2 minutes from our house.
One of Calgary's top rated breakfast diners (Dairy Lane Cafe) is a 12 minute walk from our home, as is the Sunterra Kensington market which carries premium food items and serves casual (and tasty) meals.
For hot summer days in the city, Bowview Outdoor Swimming Pool is a short 4 block walk from the house. And for later in the evening ( or any time of day for that matter), two of Calgary's top 10 ice-cream shops (Made by Marcus, and Amato Gelato) are also only a 12 minute walk.

Numerous Parks are walking distance from our home. Grand Trunk playground is at the end of our street. The West Hillhurst off-lease dog park is 2 blocks away. Helicopter playground is 4 blocks away. Shouldice Athletic Park is a 10 minute drive (basketball, tennis, playground) and the Bow River cycling and running pathway system is 1 km away. (Calgary has the most extensive urban pathway and bikeway network in North America. The City maintains approximately 1000 km of regional pathways and 96 km of trails.)
For "in city" attractions, Bowview Outdoor Swimming Pool is only 4 blocks from the house, and for the slightly more adventuresome, a leisurely but cooling rafting trip down the Bow River is very popular in the summer.
A high quality diner, 2 coffee shops, a premium food item outlet and 2 wicked ice cream / gelato shops are all within a 12 minute walk from the house. The vibrant shopping and dining district of Kensington is very close. And downtown Calgary, with more shopping and dining, is a 5 minute drive.
Spectacular day trips are accessible in all directions from our home. Two minutes from our home you'll be on Highway 1 heading west to Kananaskis Country, Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise for hiking, mountain-biking and general site seeing in the beautiful rocky mountains. A few miles east on Highway 1 connects you to Highway 2 where you can head north to Sylvan Lake and Edmonton. And Drumheller - the dinosaur capital of the world - is only a 95 minute drive from our house. A 1 hr and 50 minute drive south will have you at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home of a museum of the Blackfoot culture.
For mountain biking enthusiasts of all levels, Calgary is an outstanding base. Within 45 minutes you can be in The Bragg Creek and Kananaskis areas, which boast some of the most scenic, challenging and enjoyable trails in Canada. And within city limits Nose Hill Park (more gentle, but a great view of downtown and Rocky Mountains) is less than 15 minutes from our home.

Hvad kan vi lide eller ikke lide. Her er vores ønsker og boligregler
We are first time home exchangers, and want this to be a great experience for both the family we will be exchanging with, and for our ourselves.
We'd like to exchange for a full month during the summer, preferably in August. The Comox / Courtney area would be our first pick, with Victoria second, but we'd consider anything on Vancouver Island.
No smoking please, and pets are welcome.
